I love this time of year, when the weather gets cooler (it does get cool here in Arizona) and I can make heartier dishes like stew, chili, and soup.  I also enjoy drinking red wine more–the notes in red wine go perfect with fall and winter dishes.  Just in time for the holidays, Woodbridge is releasing a new limited edition Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi Harvest Spiced Red Blend NV, the perfect red wine for cool Autumn days.

{I was given a sample of Woodbridge to try but my opinions are 100% my own.}

“At Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi, we strive to craft great quality wines to share with family and friends,” says Todd Ziemann, Director of Winemaking, Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi. “True to our winemaking style, the Harvest Spiced Red Blend is an easy-drinking red blend that can bring people together for celebrations big and small – it’s the perfect pairing for seasonal dishes and holiday traditions.”

The Woodbridge Harvest Spiced Red Blend can be served at room temperature or warm as a mulled wine, bringing out the red berry, vanilla, cinnamon, and clove notes in the wine.  Add a cinnamon stick and slice of orange to the Woodbridge Harvest Spiced Red Blend to keep you warm from your head to your toes.

Tips for the Perfect Mulled Wine

Woodbridge 7

  1. Don’t heat the wine too much.  This wine is better just slightly warmed.
  2. Don’t use too many spices.  You want the spices to enhance the natural notes in the wine, not hide them.
  3. Garnish the mulled wine with a thin orange slice, or grate orange zest into the wine as it heats.
  4. Serve the warmed wine in a heat-proof glass or mug.
  5. Instead of putting a cinnamon stick in the glass, I rubbed a slice of orange around the edge of my glass, then rimmed the glass with cinnamon.
