Is it hot enough for you yet? Here in Arizona, we’re dealing with temperatures hovering around 115 degrees…I am ready to melt! When the weather is this hot, I like cold beverages with lots and lots of crushed ice. I would normally not advocate adding ice to wine, but ice is the perfect accompaniment for these Jam Jar wine refresher cocktails–they are so refreshing!

Jam Jar Wines
Most people turn to cocktails in the summer, leaving wine for fall and winter. South Africa-based Jam Jar wines are the exception, however, because they were meant for summer sipping. Jam Jar Sweet Shiraz is chock full of fresh summer raspberries, with a touch of smoky dark chocolate, making it the perfect wine for summer BBQ’s, cold cheese plates, and pizza. Don’t even get me started on pairing Jam Jar Sweet Shiraz with dessert s’mores…oh my goodness!
Jam Jar Sweet White Moscato is just as perfect–it tastes like someone took a summer fruit basket and squeezed it into a wine bottle. Sweet juicy peaches, sweet-tart lychees, and a gentle hint of orange blossom make Jam Jar Sweet White moscato the perfect wine to pair with grilled chicken and fish, summer salads, and spicy Thai takeout…because who wants to cook in the summer anyway, right?
My favorite way to pair Jam Jar wine in the summer? With fun! Whether watching the sunset at the beach, lounging by the pool, or enjoying a picnic dinner at an outdoor concert, chilled Jam Jar is the consummate accessory for summer fun.
Jam Jar Wine Refreshers
- 1 Bottle Jam Jar Sweet Shiraz or Sweet White Moscato
- 1 (12 oz) Can of Lemon-Lime Soda
- Fresh slices of lemon or lime
- Lots of crushed ice
Fill a 12-ounce mason (jam) jar with crushed ice. Pour the lemon-lime soda over the ice, filling the mason jar 1/3 full. Top with the Jam Jar wine of your choice. Garnish with a lemon or lime slice and give the jar a quick stir with your straw. Enjoy!
