Halloween is coming and with it lots of tasty Halloween tricks and treat ideas.  These Caramel Peanut Butter Marshmallow Balls, made with Malt O Meal Peanut Butter Cup cereal, are a great Halloween or game day snack your whole family will enjoy!   Inspired by the popcorn balls we used to eat as kids.  Caramel and peanut butter are meant for each other, don’t you think?

Post/Malt O Meal Cereals

Post and Malt O’ Meal cereals, found at Walmart stores,  stretch meal dollars further by offering these cereals in traditional box size (Post) or in big economical bags (Malt O Meal).  Post and Malt O Meal cereals are tasty and wholesome, made with whole grains, essential vitamins and minerals, and no high fructose corn syrup.  Cereal in a bowl with milk is great, but I like to mix it up every now and then and use cereal in other ways, and a big bag of Malt O Meal Peanut Butter Cup or Marshmallow Mateys goes a lot further when you use it not just for breakfast, but to make a dessert or snack treat, like my Caramel Peanut Butter Marshmallow Balls!

Creamy homemade caramel sauce is blended with melting marshmallows, then tossed into a big bowl of Malt O Meal Peanut Butter Cup cereal, and molded into balls.  Perfect for Halloween parties or game day snacking, you can whip up a batch in twenty minutes!

  • 1/2 c Butter
  • 1/2 c. Brown Sugar
  • 2/3 c. Mini Marshmallows
  • 6 c. Malt O Meal Peanut Butter Cup Cereal

Pour the cereal in a large bowl and set aside.  Grease a cooking sheet with cooking spray.  Melt butter in a large sauce pan over medium heat.  Stir in the brown sugar and continue cooking on medium high until the sauce starts to bubble.

Remove from heat and stir in the marshmallows using a butter coated wooden spoon until the marshmallows have melted.  Pour the caramel/marshmallow sauce over the cereal and mix together.  It may get sticky, so work quickly to blend it in before it cools.

Place plastic baggies on your hand, spray with a touch of cooking spray, then quickly form balls with the coated cereal mixture and place on the cooking sheet.  Stick a lollipop stick or straw (cut in half) in each ball and set aside to cool.  (You can also place the cooking sheet in the refrigerator to cool faster.  When cool, serve immediately or place in a sealed container until ready to eat.
