When the thermometer gets above 90 degrees, I usually switch to a nice light rosé or chilled white wine for summer, but this year I will be adding Antigal Uno Cabernet Sauvignon to my summer repertoire. Antigal Uno Cabernet Sauvignon (2014)
Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine best served at room temperature, making it ideal for fall and winter drinking, and since a good cab should never be chilled, it is not so great for summer sipping, when everything gets iced down. Still, the flavors in a Cabernet Sauvignon really pop the warmer the wine gets, so if you do not mind your wine un-chilled, you will love this Antigal Uno Cabernet Sauvignon this summer.
At first sip, the Antigal Uno cab is clean and lightly fruity, with notes of cherry, berry, and chocolate. The more you swirl it in the glass, the more it opens the bouquet in the warm summer air. The berry notes become more bold, with a touch of white pepper hitting the back of your throat, before gently smoothing out to soft vanilla-spice tannin at the end. Delightful!
The Antigal Uno Cabernet Sauvignon is made from 100% Cabernet grapes grown in the Mendoza region of Argentina. The wine is aged for 12 months in French and American Oak, allowing the flavors to subtly mature, which is why you taste the white pepper on the nose and that silky vanilla on the finish.
Summer Food + Wine Pairing
Let’s be honest, if you are anything like me, you use the grill every chance you can get during the summer to keep the indoors cool. Grilled meats and cheeses pair so well with Antigal Uno Cabernet Sauvignon, particularly summer steaks, marinaded pork dishes, and grilled vegetables. For a quick appetizer, try the Antigal with these Easy Brie and Pepper Jelly Bites- the bried and pepper bring out the berry in the wine. Try a grilled garlic pork tenderloin or a chili-rubbed rib-eye to bring out the subtle smoke in the Antigal Cab. Summer tomato salad topped with fresh blue cheese will bring out the subtle pepperiness of the Antigal Uno Cabernet Sauvignon, as does a summer beet salad with goat cheese. Even a simple burger topped with caramelized onion tomato jamcaramelized onion tomato jam tastes gourmet paired with a glass of Antigal Uno Cabernet Sauvignon!
Ready to try something new for summer dessert? Marinate a pint of fresh strawberries in a tablespoon or two of Antigal Uno Cabernet Sauvignon and a teaspoon of sugar overnight, then serve over vanilla ice cream. The flavor combination will blow your mind!
