Baking is an art form that blends creativity, accuracy, and passion. While a home baker’s skills and knowledge play a crucial role in the kitchen, the tools they use are equally essential. A great kitchen artist could not “whip up” an incredible cake without the right whisk or cake pan. Essential baking tools can make cooking easier and more accurate and can help streamline the baking process; great baking tools are more than just a matter of convenience, they are essential for creating better and more delicious results and can be the catalyst to turn an average cook into a culinary artist during the holidays and all year!
Thirty essential tools to take your holiday baking from mediocre to spectacular! A good rolling pin is crucial for rolling out cookie dough, bread dough, and more. This rolling pin is non-stick and easy to clean, with ergonomically designed handles for easy rolling. Springform pans are the go-to tool for cheesecakes, mousse, and certain tarts, such as a delectable chocolate oblivion tart! The spring -based side makes it easy to pop the finished delicacy out of the pan. I use a whisk almost every day in the kitchen. A good whisk is great for blending egg dishes, mixing up homemade salad dressings, and blending a cream sauce to perfect smoothness. I personally prefer the feel of a stainless steel whisk as it is lighter and easier to "flick" with the wrist. Cookie sheet pans are vital for expert cookie baking. These Wilton cookie sheets are durable and bake evenly for a perfect cookie every time. Bonus? They are long-lasting and clean up easy. Baking sheets made of silicone eliminate the need for parchment paper and are reuseable. Convenient and environmentally-friendly! Cookie cutters are a fundamental tool of holiday cookie making, with many different designs and shapes. This hand blender makes whipping cream or a thin icing super easy. You can also use it to blend soups and sauces. These nonstick muffin pans can be used to bake muffins, cupcakes, and dinner rolls. Have you noticed a trend here? I used Wilton for almost all my baking pans and these cake pans are no exception. Be sure to get a few of these to make layer cakes. I prefer a ceramic or stone pie pan for even baking. This pistachio-colored pan is not only functional but pretty. I know, I know. As you budget for kitchen tools, this one may seem unnecessary but I wholeheartedly disagree. I use this to roll out pies, my famous cinnamon rolls, and pizza dough. The measurement indications are invaluable and because it is silcone, it is super easy to clean. If you are going to bake cookies and cakes, you need cooling racks so they can cool evenly. These stackable cooling racks allow you to cool more in less time. Yes, it is a little pricy a KitchenAir mixer is worth every penny. I use my KitchenAid mixer at least four days a week to make cookie dough, whip cream, knead bread dough, and even mash potatoes. Silicone oven mitts last longer than cloth, clean easier, and can withstand higher temperatures. For those used to cloth, it can take a bit to get used to them but once you use them you will never go back to cloth. For bread and quick breads, I prefer a glass pan for even baking and easy removal, plus glass cleans nice without damaging the surface. This handy tool is perfect for blending butter or shortening into pie or scone dough to create the little crumbs needed to make a flaky crust. Who doesn't love a delicious bundt cake, right? Enough said. I am a sucker for colorful kitchen utensils and these KitchenAid measuring spoons are colorful AND practical. This may sound silly but you know what I like best about these measuring cups? The short silicone-coated handle. Plastic or metal measuring cups without a silicone handle can be slippery and slippery tools = kitchen mistakes. A cookie scoop helps maintain even cookie size for even baking and a nice-looking finished product. A cookie press is essential for pressed cookies such as spritz and you can also use a cookie press to frost cakes and cookies. Cakes, brownies, cornbread, and bar cookies can all be made in glass bakeware and the lids are genious for keeping your goodies fresh. Fact: I have owned the same Cuisinart food processor for the past thirty years. 30 years! I love my Cuisinart food processor for grinding nuts, creaming butter, making almond flour, and more! Tarts are little bites of heaven. Lemon, almond, raspberry, you name it, everyone loves a good tart! The key to frosting a cake is a good icing knife set. These icing knives have a long handle and smooth edge for sleek icing. Yes, you can easily make your own baguettes with the right pan! These pans are non-stick with tiny holes for a crunchy exterior and fluffy-soft interior. Hear me out: If you are going to invest in a mixing bowl set, forget metal bowls and go for glass. Why? Some baking materials that contain aluminum, copper, and other metals can react with acidic ingredients such as lemon and add an "off" taste to your baking. Glass bowls are non-reactive and usable for all ingredients. Parchment paper is versatile and oh-so convenient. I use parchment for my cookie sheets, spring form pans, and for baking bread. Flip it, flip it good! A good silicone turner is handy for flipping cookies, pancakes, and even french fries! This zester is the bomb for zesting lemons, spices, and chocolate!30 Ultimate Tools for Holiday Baking
