I am always looking for pretty and unique ways to decorate our table for Easter.  I love fresh flowers but wanted to try something a little different, incorporating the other colors and textures of Easter into the design.  The vibrant spring colors of blue, yellow, pink, green, and orange can be found in Easter candy, particularly jelly beans, and with a few vases and ribbon, I turned my tulips and jelly beans into a beautiful Tulips in Jelly Beans Easter centerpiece.

For this craft you need:

  • 1 Bouquet of Fresh Tulips
  • Water
  • 1 Bag of Jelly Beans
  • 1 Small round vase
  • 1 Large Rectangular Vase
  • Fabric Ribbon
  • Double Sided Tape

I thought of putting the jelly beans in the vase with the water, but knew the water would melt the jelly beans too quickly, so that option was out.  I found a small glass vase to put the tulips in, filled it half way with water, then put that small vase into a bigger vase.  I rinsed and cut the tulips to fit in the vase, then slowly added the jelly beans around the smaller vase.

It’s okay if one or two of the jelly beans fall into the tulip water, because sugar keeps flower fresh, longer.  I only added jelly beans up to the lip of the smaller vase, so the rest of the beans did not get wet.  When I was finished with the jelly beans, I took a strip of fabric ribbon, wrapped it around the vase, and tied a big bow.  I secured the ribbon with a bit of double-sided tape underneath to hold it in place.   Didn’t it come out pretty!
